La ciudad del hidrógeno The city of hydrogen
Los problemas asociados a la fuerte dependencia de los combustibles fósiles, están obligando a plantear alternativas sostenibles . The problems associated with heavy dependence on fossil fuels, are forcing raise sustainable alternatives. Las energías renovables podrían llegar a ser la solución , sin embargo, hoy por hoy plantean diversos obstáculos, entre ellos el de la intermitencia : prácticamente todas las fuentes de energía renovable producen electricidad por rachas. Renewable energy could become the solution, however, today raised various obstacles, including that of the intermittent: virtually all sources of renewable energy for electricity produced gusts. Es por este motivo por el que se hace necesario un sistema de almacenamiento de energía, y es aquí donde el hidrógeno está ganando importancia como posible solución. En este marco un grupo de empresas e instituciones danesas han ideado un vanguardista proyecto que persigue la creación de una ciudad limpia y sostenible con el hidrógeno como principal protagonista. In this framework a group of Danish companies and institutions have devised a pioneering project that aims at creating a clean and sustainable city with hydrogen as the main protagonist. Su nombre es H2PIA y en teoría este proyecto se comenzó a materializar en alguna parte de Dinamarca en el pasado año. His name is H2PIA and in theory this project began to materialize somewhere in Denmark in the past year.
La ciudad obtendrá energía de fuentes renovables (del viento y del Sol), y la empleará para dividir agua en H 2 y O 2 , para luego usar ambos en una pila de combustible para obtener electricidad. The city will get energy from renewable sources (wind and the sun), and used to split water into H 2 and O 2, and then use both in a fuel cell to obtain electricity. Este paso intermedio es el que permite el almacenamiento de la energía, ya que el H 2 y el O 2 son fácilmente almacenables. This is the intermediate step that allows the storage of energy as the H 2 and O 2 are easily storable.
Podrémos encontrar tres partes diferenciadas: We may find three distinct parts:
- Villa Unpluged: en donde las casas serán totalmente autónomas y generarán su propia energía. Villa Unplug: where the houses are totally autonomous and generate its own energy.
- Villa Pluged: en donde se continuará usando la energía de la red eléctrica, esta provendrá de los parques eólicos y solares situados en las afueras de la ciudad. Villa Pluge: where it will continue to use the power to the grid, this will come from wind farms and solar located on the outskirts of the city.
- Villa Hybrid: aquí, las casas generarán su propia energía, pero estarán también conectadas a la red eléctrica, pudiendo inyectar en esta su energía sobrante. Villa Hybrid: here, the houses will generate its own energy, but also be connected to the electricity grid, being able to inject this into your energy away.
El proyecto parece esperanzador y constituye todo un ejemplo para Europa y para el mundo entero. The project seems hopeful and constitutes an example for Europe and the world. La pregunta es, será esta ciudad realmente limpia, sostenible y sobre todo económicamente rentable, o se quedará todo en una utopía. The question is, will this city really clean, sustainable and above all economically profitable, or will stay around in a utopia.
